My 1.5 years old son had fallen from the bed 5 weeks back and broke a lower corner part of his front tooth on the upper jaw. There was cut and bleeding in his upper lips but no cut or bleeding from gums. There was pain for 2-3 days and after that he has been eating with the same tooth and has not complained about pain. We con I also brush his teeth but he never complained. Two days back I noticed the upper corner of the tooth adjacent to gum has become slightly blackish. However, there is no swelling or he has not complained of any pain, he has been eating as usual and not reisted while I brush his teeth. I took him to pediatric dentist and he told that the nerve has been damaged and advised pulpectomy/baby root canal to be performed for further damage. SInce my son is only 1.5 years old, hence he has to be given full anasthesia to make him cooeprate for the procedure. However, diagnosis has been made based on superficial observation only and no X-Ray has been done to ascertain the actual extent of damage. I am worried, that is this the only option left with us or we can wait for few more months to see whether it cn heal naturally. Also, whether full anasthesia recommendable for a child of 1.5 years only.
